Dr. Balkus received his PhD in Chemistry from the University of Florida in 1986 working with Dr. Russell Drago. He is currently a Professor of Chemistry and Materials Science and Engineering at The University of Texas at Dallas. He is a Fellow of the American Chemical Society and Regional Editor for Microporous Mesoporous Materials and the Journal of Porous Materials. He has published Over 300 papers and patents in the area of synthesis and application of nanoporous materials. He has studied the biomedical applications of Zeolites, Mesoporous Molecular sieves and Metal Organic Frameworks for over 25 years.
