Prof. Fernando Rey
Polytechnic University of Valencia, Spain
Title of the conference:Phosphorus containing structure-directing agents for synthesis of new zeolites
Professor Fernando Rey (1963) received the degree in chemistry at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (1986). Its Ph.D. studies were performed at the Instituto de Tecnología Química during 1988 – 1992 under supervision of Prof. Vicente Fornés. The area of research of his Ph. D. Thesis was synthesis, characterization and catalytic applications of hydrotalcites.
Subsequently, he joined the group of Prof. John M. Thomas from 1993 to 1995 at the Royal Institution of Great Britain as Post Doctoral fellow. During his Post doctoral stay, his research was focussed on the development of new ‘in-situ’ characterisation tools based on the employ of synchrotron radiation for the understanding behaviour of micro- and mesoporous catalysts.
He returned to the Instituto of Tecnología Química in 1995 and one year later he obtained a permanent position at that Institute. In 2007, he was promoted to Research Professor of CSIC. Since November 2014, he is director of Institute of Chemical Technology.
His research interest is focussed in the synthesis, characterization and application of porous solids, mostly zeolites, with controlled properties in catalysis and gas separations.
He has co-authored more than 120 scientific high impact publications, being his current h-index 46. Also, he appears as inventor in 40 patents, of which 21 have been transferred to chemical companies and 2 of them are commercially exploited.
